Wesseling, the company location, is a small city on the Rhine river between Cologne and Bonn. It is dominated by chemical industry and refineries, but you can also find old places with some remaining charm of an old fisher village. The town is surrounded by farmland with various vegetables including asparagus. Some asparagus fields are heated by cooling water of the refineries, which advances the availability of asparagus by four weeks in springtime.
On clear days one can see downstream the Cologne cathedral and upstream the Siebengebirge (Seven Mountains) behind Bonn on the other side, where the romantic part of the Rhine valley with vineyards and old castles begins.
